New Energy played a key role in the development of a 5.2 MW solar farm located on 6.1 hectares of land in the north-east corner of Gisborne Airport. The site generates approximately 7,343 MWh of renewable electricity per year—enough to power around 1,000 typical New Zealand homes.
New Energy completed the full civil and mechanical scope of the project, including the installation of an S-Rack fixed tilt mounting system with 7,980 bi-facial solar panels. Our team also delivered the electrical reticulation, ensuring efficient connection to the local energy network.
Construction commenced in early 2023, and by September 2023, the solar farm was fully energised and contributing clean electricity to the region.
This project highlights New Energy’s commitment to advancing renewable energy across Aotearoa and supporting regional sustainability initiatives.
