About

New Energy is proud to be supporting the construction of the Tauhei Solar Farm, located just north of Morrinsville in the heart of the Waikato.

The project is a joint venture between Harmony Energy and First Renewables Ltd, part of Clarus, combining global experience with local investment in New Zealand’s energy future.

New Energy has been engaged to deliver the mechanical works on the project, working alongside Elecnor, the project’s EPC contractor. This marks our first collaboration with Elecnor, and we’re excited to bring our solar expertise to this landmark development.

Once complete, the solar farm will have a capacity of 202 MWp, making it one of the largest utility-scale solar projects in Aotearoa. It will generate enough clean electricity to power tens of thousands of New Zealand homes each year, contributing significantly to the country’s renewable energy targets.

New Energy mobilised on site in July 2025 to undertake the mechanical delivery of 74MW of the site. At peak delivery, we will have more than 130 people on the ground delivering the project.  We’re proud to have installed more than 20,000 piles in only 40 days. The table and module installation is well underway.

Tauhei Solar Farm represents another important step in New Energy’s commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure across Aotearoa.
