New Plymouth Airport Solar Farm

New Energy is working with Infratec and Papa Rererangi i Puketapu Ltd on the installation a 10MW Solar Farm at New Plymouth Airport.

The 15-hectare farm has been designed to make New Plymouth Airport energy self-sufficient. The fixed tilt solar farm utilises 14,400 PV modules. Groundbreaking occurred in mid 2024. New Energy started on site in October completed the piling, with more than 3000 piles installed, in under 4 weeks. The last solar module was installed in January 2025 completing the mechanical installation ahead of schedule.

New Energy commenced the electrical installation at the end of March 2025 with our Drillco team focused on the cable reticulation.
