New Energy is proud to be working alongside Infratec and Papa Rererangi i Puketapu Ltd on the delivery of a 10MW solar farm at New Plymouth Airport.
Spanning 15 hectares, the fixed-tilt solar farm is designed to make the airport energy self-sufficient, supporting a more sustainable future for the Taranaki region. The system includes 14,400 photovoltaic (PV) modules, purpose-built to maximise energy output and reliability.
Ground was broken in mid-2024, with New Energy mobilising to site in October. In less than four weeks, our team successfully completed the installation of over 3,000 piles, setting the foundation for a fast-tracked build. By January 2025, the mechanical installation was complete—ahead of schedule—with the final solar module securely in place.
The electrical installation phase commenced in late March 2025, covering the full scope of DC and AC works, and inverter station installation. Our Drillco team is leading the cable reticulation, ensuring a high-quality, efficient delivery of the underground services that connect the system.
This project marks another important step in our mission to deliver cleaner, smarter energy solutions across Aotearoa.
