New Energy successfully installed the reticulation on the Mercury Energy Kaiwera Downs Windfarm.
Being built 15km southeast of Gore, Kaiwera Downs will consist of 10 wind turbines that will generate a combined average of 148 GWh in renewable power each year – enough to power more than 20,000 homes or 66,000 electric vehicles – helping to increase the proportion of electricity generated in New Zealand from renewable sources. New Energy has completed almost 7km of trenches through rocky ground and laid electrical and fibre cable between the turbines.
This project is New Energy’s second windfarm after successfully completing the Waipipi windfarm in 2020.
