New Energy is proud to have partnered once again with Infratec to help deliver Lodestone Energy’s third utility-scale solar farm—Te Herenga o Te Rā, located in Waiotahe, Bay of Plenty.
At 42 MW, this is Lodestone’s largest solar farm to date, following the successful completion of Kohirā and Rangitāiki—both also delivered in collaboration with New Energy and Infratec.
Groundbreaking began in late 2023, with full construction underway by January 2024. Thanks to the expertise and commitment of our teams, mechanical and electrical works were completed six weeks ahead of schedule.
Te Herenga o Te Rā will generate enough clean electricity to power the equivalent of over 9,500 typical New Zealand small businesses, farms, homes, and apartments annually, contributing significantly to the region’s renewable energy supply.
New Energy was responsible for the mechanical and electrical installation of the Trina 2P single-axis tracking system, installing approximately 72,000 Trina photovoltaic (PV) modules across the site. The farm will supply power directly to the greater Bay of Plenty region.
