About

New Energy worked with Infratec and Lodestone to install a utility scale solar farm near Kaitaia – Kohirā.

The Kaitaia solar farm was New Zealand’s largest solar farm when completed and the first utility scale solar farm to supply the national grid. The 32MW solar plant has 61,000 solar panels and supplies electricity directly to a Top Energy substation, where it will help power the local mill. The project also incorporated native replanting with just over 7 hectares of the property to be revegetated, and agri-voltaic farming with sheep grazing the solar farm.

As the project lead New Energy completed the Reticulation, Pile Driving and Solar Panel assembly, managing the Civil works in conjunction with Connell Contractors, and Electrical installation in conjunction with ElectroNet.
