About

New Energy partnered with Infratec to deliver Lodestone Energy’s 32 MW Rangitāiki Solar Farm, located near Edgecumbe in the Bay of Plenty.

Following groundbreaking in May 2023, construction began in June, with energisation achieved by February 2024—a significant milestone on the farm’s path to full operation. New Energy delivered the full scope of civil, mechanical, and electrical works on the project.

The Rangitāiki Solar Farm generates enough clean electricity to power more than 7,500 typical New Zealand small businesses, farms, homes, and apartments annually. It plays a key role in supporting the energy needs of the 1,700 local residents, the Fonterra dairy plant, and a number of nearby commercial and industrial users.

New Energy delivered the mechanical and electrical construction of the site’s Trina 2P single-axis tracker system, installing approximately 61,000 Trina PV modules to optimise performance and solar yield.

This project represents New Energy’s second collaboration with Lodestone and Infratec, following the successful delivery of the Kaitaia Solar Farm, which began construction in December 2022. We’re excited to continue contributing to New Zealand’s transition to sustainable, locally generated energy.
