New Energy is proud to be delivering the 13.5 MW Reefton Solar Farm for Lightyears on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. This is New Energy’s first project in this unique and historic region. Situated across 20 hectares of land, the project represents a significant investment in renewable energy infrastructure and will support Lightyears’ growing platform of distributed renewable generation across Aotearoa.
As head contractor, New Energy is responsible for the complete civil, mechanical and electrical scope of works, leveraging our in-house capability to deliver the project safely, efficiently and to a high standard. The project features a fixed-tilt solar system designed to provide reliable, long-term renewable energy generation while optimising performance for the local environment and site conditions.
Construction of the Reefton Solar Farm is expected to take approximately six months, with New Energy working closely alongside Lightyears to successfully deliver the project. The development reflects a practical partnership focused on reliable project delivery, supporting local employment opportunities and expanding Kiwi-owned renewable energy generation.
